FAQs
Our name reflects our approach: thoughtful planning, a personal welcome and a willingness to go the extra mile to make your journey special. Tell us what matters to you, and we’ll do our best to make it part of your experience.
Choosing your experience
We specialise in private tours, with your guide and transport reserved for your booking group. Any shared departures are clearly identified in the tour description before you book. If you’re unsure which option best suits you, please get in touch.
We’ll be happy to create a private tour around your interests, available time and preferred pace. Get in touch with your proposed dates, group size, pick-up location and any places or experiences you’d like to include. We’ll discuss the options and provide a tailored itinerary and quote before you book.
Yes. We specialise in private small-group tours and can also arrange tours for larger parties, subject to suitable transport and guide availability. Please get in touch with your group size, preferred dates and any luggage or access requirements so we can recommend the best arrangement and provide a quote.
Yes. We welcome families and older guests, and can tailor private tours to suit your group’s interests, mobility and preferred pace. Please tell us before booking about children’s ages and any child-seat or access requirements, so we can confirm suitable arrangements. Some activities or attractions may have their own age or fitness restrictions.
Yes. We plan shore excursions around your ship’s scheduled arrival and departure, including collection from Scrabster and a planned return with time to spare before your all-aboard deadline. Please provide your ship’s name and visit date when enquiring, so we can confirm a suitable itinerary and timings.
Booking your experience
We recommend enquiring as early as possible, particularly for summer dates, cruise visits, larger groups and multi-day golf journeys. Accommodation, suitable vehicles and tee times can be limited, so early planning gives us the best chance of securing your preferred arrangements. Last-minute enquiries are always welcome, subject to availability.
Each tour description on our WeTravel booking platform explains the price, what’s included and any additional costs. It also states whether the price is per person or for your private group. For bespoke tours, your quote will clearly set out the transport, guiding, entry fees, accommodation and meals included before you book.
Payment is arranged through our WeTravel booking platform. Depending on your tour and how close you book to departure, full payment or a deposit may be required when booking. We’ll explain the payment schedule, balance deadline and available payment methods before you confirm.
We understand that unexpected things happen. Contact us as soon as possible if your plans change, and we’ll make every reasonable effort to help.
For private day tours and walking tours, cancellation is free at least seven days before departure. Maximum charges are 50% with less than seven days but at least 72 hours’ notice, and 100% with less than 72 hours’ notice or for non-attendance. Charges reflect our actual losses, allowing for costs saved and replacement bookings. Separate terms may apply to multi-day tours and bookings involving hired vehicles or substantial supplier commitments; these are explained before booking.
If your cruise ship cannot call at the agreed collection port, we refund all payments made to Above & Beyond for your shore excursion. If we cancel your tour, we also refund all payments made to us for that booking.
Please read our full Cancellation, changes and unexpected disruption policy for details, including changed ship timings and how to cancel.

We can arrange collection and drop-off at airports across Scotland, including Wick, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as part of your private tour or bespoke journey.
Tell us your flight details, group size and luggage requirements, and we’ll plan suitable transport and timings. Availability and any additional costs will be confirmed in your quote before booking.

For larger groups and golf journeys, we arrange spacious touring vehicles such as a long-wheelbase Volkswagen Multivan, Mercedes-Benz Vito or similar, according to your group size, luggage and itinerary.

Your comfort and requirements
We’ll make every reasonable effort to adapt your tour to your access needs and preferred pace.
Please contact us before booking to discuss anything that would help you enjoy your journey, including walking distances, steps, getting in and out of vehicles, or travelling with a wheelchair or mobility aid. We’ll explain what’s practical, suggest suitable options and confirm any specialist transport arrangements and costs before you book.
Walking varies by itinerary. Some stops involve short, easy walks, while others include uneven ground, steps or longer coastal paths.
For private tours, we can adjust the pace and stops to suit your comfort and interests, including options with minimal walking. Tell us your preferences before booking, and we’ll explain the distances and terrain so you can choose a tour you’ll enjoy.
Please tell us before booking about any dietary requirements or food allergies. Where meals or food experiences form part of your tour, we’ll discuss your needs with the relevant providers and confirm what they can accommodate. This helps us plan suitable stops and explain any limitations before you book.
Yes. Please let us know when you enquire if you would prefer a female guide. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request, subject to guide availability, and confirm arrangements before you book.
Preparing for your tour
Bring comfortable layers, a waterproof jacket and sturdy footwear with a good grip. Even in summer, coastal stops can feel cool and windy, so a warm layer is useful.
For walks over uneven or wet ground, walking shoes or boots are recommended. We’ll let you know before your tour if any activities require particular clothing or equipment, including what’s provided and what you’ll need to bring.
A little Highland weather is part of the experience, and tours usually go ahead in rain or changeable conditions. We’ll adapt stops and routes where practical to keep your day safe and enjoyable.
If conditions mean we cannot safely operate your tour, we’ll contact you as soon as possible. You can choose an available alternative date or receive a full refund if we cancel. If a particular activity is affected, we’ll explain the options and any changes to your itinerary.
We hold public liability insurance and motor insurance covering the carriage of paying passengers for our tours.
We also recommend that guests have their own suitable travel insurance covering cancellation, illness and travel disruption.
